DIY: Glass Jar

Hello my lovelies, so I haven't done a DIY post in a while and recently I have been making a lot of new storage things and trying to make my room a little more autumnal and pretty. Today I am just going to show you a few home decorations that you can easily make your self using a glass jar. These are so simple to do and I'm sure you've probably seen other DIY's similar to this but I hope that you enjoy and let's get straight in to it!!

So firstly you just want to collect several glass jars. These can be from pasta sauces, jam jars or nutella jars. Most of mine are from jam jars but you can use any that you like. There are a lot of different shaped jars and in this post you can see which shapes I used for the different DIY's. The first process is to clean all of the jars. I just filled my kitchen sink with warm water and started scrubbing away the labels, most of them peeled off easily which means you don't spend a lot of time trying to remove them. Then you just want to make sure that they all nice and clean!!

Once I had cleaned them I just threw away the lids as I don't think they are necessary because most of them have logos on. However on this apple sauce jar there was no logo so I kept it just in case I needed to use it. Then you just want to make sure the Jar is dry so that it is ready to DIY!!

The next step is to just get any ribbon or fancy bits of fabric and tie it around the tops of the jars to make bows. I just used this plain white ribbon with pink detailing to go around the top of mine and it just adds more of a decorative feel.

The Fairy Light Jar
The first way to use your glass jar is to make a cute little decorative lamp using fairy lights. So if you would like to know how I did this just keep reading!! For this DIY I used a pasta sauce jar because it's taller than a lot of other jars and so the fairy lights are crammed together. This is what it looks like at night time and I think that it's so pretty and it lights up my whole bedroom which is so nice and it is also very autumnal!!

The battery compartment doesn't look that pretty and so if you want to hide it like I, it can be made a little bit more decorative. I put the batteries in and tested that the lights worked then I got some decorative sticky tape and started to wrap it around the battery box. I went down the sides, then around the main part in small strips. This doesn't have to be too neat but I did try to match the polka dots up on my sticky tape. Once you get to the end just make four snippets in each corner then fold them down on top of each other. Then that's the batteries covered!! This tape is super easy to remove for when you need to replace the batteries so you don't have to worry about not being able to take it off!! My fairy lights only cost £1.99 which makes this is a really inexpensive DIY to do!!

Make-Up Storage Jar
This DIY is one of my favourites because it's so simple to do and it looks really nice. So for this all you need to do is put some cotton buds into a jar, you can then keep it on your dressing table or even in your bath room. I always find it useful to have cotton buds in case I need to wipe some smudge mascara off my eye or in case my eyeliner goes wrong, this jar makes it really easy to get to the cotton buds and it looks really nice.

Another make-up storage way is lip balms or mascaras. I chose to put my baby lips into this jar because it looks really pretty with the nice bright packaging and they look so cute when they are on my dressing table!! I suppose you could use any make up item from eyeliners, lip pencils or make up brushes.

Bits and Bobs Jar
This jar is for all of the little bits and bobs that just end up on the side and look a little messy. I find the jars useful for pens and pencils but also they are great for storing hair bobbles and clips. You can just use the jar for any random pieces that you have. It would be good to use a jar for spare change or memo notes, either way it's great to store little bits in a nice and tidy way!!

Thank you so much for reading, hopefully you will try this yourself and if you would like to see any other DIY's you can comment below or let me know via my social medias and don't forget to come back again on Friday for another blog post!! Bryony xx
